Asking For Help

Asking for help can be one of the hardest things to do.

When we need help, yet have a reluctance to ask, it can be for many reasons.

We can be proud, stubborn, hurt, afraid, defensive, angry….but there is a pattern emerging there.

These are all negative states of mind.

We feel emotion in response to events or situations. Some are fleeting, some linger for years if we allow them to.

And while much emphasis has been placed upon the fact that there are no negative or positive emotions, the state of mind that they produce can indeed be negative.

When people experience negative states of mind it can be impossible for them to ask for help, even when there is a dire need.

So we must always offer it.

I don’t encourage anyone to offer help beyond their means. And by help I don’t mean to give money or possessions, unless you choose and are in a position to.

But offering time, assistance, an ear, a kind word, a smile, can literally change someone’s life.

Never underestimate the impact of kindness, and always offer help, wherever you can. That’s what we are all here for.
